Medios señalaron que la familia ya había intentado entregar los restos al Museo de Puno, pero pedían una cantidad de dinero a cambio, por lo que nunca pudieron concretar la venta o donación.

“(Se) verificó la autenticidad del bien cultural prehispánico, el cual fue identificado como un individuo masculino adulto modificado, presumiblemente procedente de la zona oriental de Puno, con aproximadamente una cronología relativa de 600 y 800 años de antigüedad”, señalaron las autoridades en un comunicado.

En caso de que los restos de la momia hubieran resultado dañados, esto sería responsabilidad de quién los tenía y podría ser procesado por las autoridades.
