#INTERNACIONAL | El presidente de El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, negó que el migrante Kilmar Ábrego, quien fue deportado ilegalmente a su país por parte de la administración de Donald Trump, haya sufrido torturas en una megaprisión salvadoreña.
«Pero el hombre no fue torturado, ni perdió peso. De hecho, las fotos muestran que engordó durante su detención.
«Hay muchas imágenes de diferentes días, incluida su reunión con el senador Van Hollen, quien confirmó que el hombre parecía estar bien», publicó Bukele en X junto a un video en el que supuestamente se observa a Ábrego en prisión.
El migrante, que se encuentra en Estados Unidos, denunció haber sufrido torturas durante su estancia en la megacárcel del país centroamericano construida para pandilleros, según consta en documentos judiciales revelados ayer jueves.
«Al parecer, cualquier cosa que afirme un criminal es aceptada como verdad por los principales medios de comunicación y el desmoronado sistema judicial occidental», señaló Bukele en su publicación en inglés.
Añadió: «Si le habían torturado, privado de sueño y matado de hambre, ¿por qué tiene tan buen aspecto en todas las fotos? ¿Por qué iba a engordar? ¿Por qué no tiene moretones ni ojeras?».
El video divulgado por Bukele posee imágenes del interior de una celda que supuestamente fueron grabadas entre el 16 de abril y 30 de mayo de 2025, pero que no se asemeja con los pabellones del Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (Cecot) que se conocen públicamente.
Además, se incluyen fragmentos de supuestas evaluaciones médicas, de su participación en el programa Cero Ocio, en el que privados de libertad desarrollan diversas actividades, y de su regreso a Estados Unidos.
Ábrego, de nacionalidad salvadoreña, denunció que sufrió palizas severas, privación del sueño y desnutrición, entre otras formas de tortura de manos de sus carceleros Cecot, detallaron sus abogados en un escrito ante un tribunal de Maryland, Estados Unidos.
Esta es la primera vez que Ábrego da detalles de su experiencia en el Cecot, donde fue enviado en marzo pasado junto a un grupo de migrantes venezolanos y salvadoreños a pesar de que contaba con una orden de un juez estadunidense que lo protegía de ser deportado a su país natal.
Según el relato de Ábrego, dado a conocer por sus abogados, «fue sometido a torturas físicas y psicológicas, incluyendo palizas, privación del sueño, hacinamiento extremo, mala alimentación, amenazas y exposición constante a luces brillantes».
