#MICHOACÁN II El alcalde de Uruapan, Carlos Manzo Rodríguez, fue ultimado a balazos anoche, mientras participaba en los festejos del Festival de las Velas, una celebración tradicional del Día de Muertos en Michoacán.
De acuerdo con la Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE), el ataque ocurrió alrededor de las 20:00 horas, cuando el edil convivía con familias y niños en el centro histórico. Testigos señalaron que se escucharon varias detonaciones. Manzo fue trasladado al hospital Fray Juan de San Miguel, donde falleció minutos después
Un regidor municipal resultó herido durante la agresión, mientras que uno de los presuntos atacantes fue abatido en el lugar. Las autoridades detuvieron a dos personas presuntamente relacionadas con el crimen y aseguraron un arma corta calibre 9 mm.
Carlos Manzo había asumido el cargo en septiembre de 2024 como alcalde independiente y era conocido por sus llamados públicos a fortalecer la seguridad en Uruapan, uno de los municipios más afectados por el crimen organizado.
El gobernador de Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, condenó el atentado y expresó condolencias a la familia del edil. Elementos estatales y federales reforzaron la vigilancia en la zona, mientras la Fiscalía abrió una carpeta de investigación para esclarecer los hechos y determinar el móvil del ataque.
