#INTERNACIONAL | Carl Isom-McDaniel, el turista de 65 años que fue embestido por un bisonte en el Parque Nacional Yellowstone, rompió el silencio para narrar el momento en que el animal lo lanzó por los aires, dejándolo con una fractura de fémur en cuatro partes.
Desde la cama del hospital, el hombre relató que caminaba junto a su nieto de 13 años cuando observaron al bisonte aparentemente tranquilo. Sin embargo, de un momento a otro el ejemplar los atacó y él decidió interponerse para permitir que el menor escapara.
Isom-McDaniel explicó que el bisonte lo impulsó aproximadamente dos metros y medio por el aire. Al recordar el incidente, bromeó con que “el problema fue el aterrizaje”, ya que la caída fue la que le provocó las lesiones de mayor gravedad.
El hombre fue trasladado a un hospital, donde fue sometido a cirugía. Pese a la gravedad de la fractura, afirmó sentirse agradecido de haber sobrevivido, pues considera que el animal pudo haberle causado heridas mucho más severas.
Autoridades del Parque Nacional Yellowstone informaron que no tomarán medidas contra el bisonte, al considerar que actuó conforme a su comportamiento natural. Además, recordaron a los visitantes la importancia de mantenerse al menos a 23 metros de estos animales, que pueden correr hasta tres veces más rápido que una persona.
