#INTERNACIONAL | Un terremoto de magnitud 7.1 sacudió este martes la prefectura de Kumamoto, en la isla japonesa de Kyushu, dejando severos daños materiales, decenas de personas lesionadas y una amplia movilización de los servicios de emergencia para atender a víctimas atrapadas entre los escombros.
De acuerdo con las autoridades, uno de los incidentes más graves ocurrió en un centro comercial Aeon Mall, donde una explosión provocó el colapso parcial de la estructura, dejando entre 20 y 30 personas atrapadas, mientras equipos de rescate trabajaban para localizarlas y liberarlas.
El movimiento telúrico también ocasionó el derrumbe de viviendas, daños en carreteras, puentes y edificios históricos, además de incendios aislados y cortes de energía que afectaron a alrededor de 40 mil hogares. Asimismo, el servicio del tren bala Kyushu Shinkansen fue suspendido temporalmente y un tren de carga descarriló tras una fuerte réplica de magnitud 6.1.
Las autoridades japonesas emitieron inicialmente una alerta de tsunami, la cual fue retirada horas después, al tiempo que ordenaron la evacuación preventiva de aproximadamente 300 mil personas en las zonas de mayor riesgo.
Además del centro comercial, los equipos de emergencia atendieron el colapso de una fábrica de papel y otros inmuebles dañados, donde también se reportaron personas desaparecidas. Helicópteros, bomberos y elementos de las Fuerzas de Autodefensa fueron desplegados para apoyar las labores de búsqueda y rescate.
Las autoridades confirmaron que no se registraron anomalías en las centrales nucleares cercanas al epicentro, mientras continúan las inspecciones para evaluar la magnitud de los daños y atender a la población afectada.
