#NACIONAL | La tasa de homicidios en México descendió a 21.4 por cada 100 mil habitantes durante 2025, con lo que retomó la tendencia a la baja tras el incremento observado en 2024, de acuerdo con las Estadísticas de Defunciones Registradas publicadas por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi).
El organismo informó que el año pasado se contabilizaron 27 mil 989 homicidios, cifra 18 por ciento menor a los 33 mil 550 registrados en 2024. Asimismo, la tasa nacional quedó por debajo de las reportadas en 2023 (24), 2022 (26), 2021 (28) y de los niveles de 29 homicidios por cada 100 mil habitantes registrados entre 2018 y 2020.
Por género, la tasa entre los hombres fue de 38.4 homicidios por cada 100 mil habitantes, mientras que en las mujeres se ubicó en 4.7, ambas inferiores a las registradas un año antes.
Los estados con las tasas más elevadas fueron Colima, con 89 homicidios por cada 100 mil habitantes; Morelos, con 58; Sinaloa, con 57; Baja California, con 55; Sonora, con 54, y Chihuahua, con 53. En contraste, Yucatán, Coahuila, Durango, Chiapas y Querétaro se ubicaron entre las entidades con los índices más bajos.
En cifras absolutas, Guanajuato encabezó la lista con 3 mil 249 homicidios, seguido por Estado de México, Chihuahua, Baja California y Sinaloa. Por el contrario, Yucatán, Campeche, Durango, Coahuila y Tlaxcala reportaron el menor número de casos.
El Inegi precisó que siete de cada diez homicidios registrados en 2025 fueron cometidos con armas de fuego, mientras que el segundo mecanismo más frecuente correspondió a armas u objetos punzocortantes, con 9.4 por ciento de los casos.
Las estadísticas del instituto se elaboran con base en registros administrativos de defunciones provenientes de oficialías del Registro Civil, servicios médicos forenses y agencias del Ministerio Público, por lo que difieren de las cifras del Gobierno federal, las cuales se sustentan en las carpetas de investigación abiertas por las fiscalías.
